Maren Weertman

Maren Weertman (1998, Amsterdam) is a visual artist and dancer whose work moves fluidly between mediums, translating abstract-mathematical or linguistic-systems into embodied and material compositions. Through a poetic approach to time and space, and through the exploration of stillness, nuance, the sensorial, and the analog, she addresses ways of resisting hierarchical and binary structures.Alongside her own artistic practice, she performs and collaborates with choreographers and artists in the Netherlands and abroad, and teaches workshops at various institutions. Weertman holds a BA in Contemporary Dance (CNSMD Lyon and AHK Amsterdam) and a BA in Fine Arts (Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam).
